Hey loves! I know it’s been a minute or two since I have posted. Mommy life, work life, and wife life were taking up every second of my 24 hours, and to be honest I was having a difficult time finding the energy to log on and post. At the end of the day, even my fingers were exhausted but, here I am!

Today I’m sharing my top picks for natural laundry detergent.

7 Daily Affirmations For Self-Care and Success

• By
affirmations

Now more than ever, I’ve realized the importance of strengthening my mind. Anxiety, stress, and procrastination will creep up on me if I don’t and I’m not trying to entertain that at all.

I remember when I was praying for God to bless my husband and I with a baby, and I had to write down positive things about my body. I wrote down that my body was healed. I wrote (and said) that we would have beautiful, healthy children. Even on the days when I could not see it, I had to tell myself that it would.

My game plan changes every few months usually but, right now I have decided to:

  1. Wake up between 5:30 and 6:00.
  2. Get my day started with prayer and affirmations.
  3. Get my body moving (stretching or a workout routine on YouTube or Instagram).
  4. Knock out some work (even 15 to 30 minutes helps a lot before the rest of the house is up).

I was never big on affirmations a few years ago because I felt like it was some fairy, “pie in the sky” stuff honestly. Combined with prayers though, it helps a LOT to get me in the right head space to face the day. Whenever I have one too many days where I feel overwhelmed, on edge, and unmotivated I know that I’ve fallen off of my routine.

Here a few affirmations that I say in my head and out loud sometimes. I also make a habit of writing them down in my journal:

I am exactly where I need to be. I welcome the challenges and opportunities that I am facing today and I will grow from them.

I push fear aside to take action in faith, because I know God is with me.

I honor my desires by asking for what I want.

I am amazed by my body and its abilities.

I am fearfully and wonderfully made, and I treat my body as such.

I practice self-care regularly.  I feel good about taking care of myself.

I embrace success in all areas of my life.

Your mind is so powerful! Get into the habit of doing and saying things that will promote good thoughts because it really does become your reality. Believe me, I know that some days it is tough but also know that it can and will get better.

Which affirmations are you repeating each day?

Coronavirus: How to Protect and Prepare Holistically

• By

In this season of the flu and coronavirus, it is difficult to know what the next best steps are.  On Instagram this morning, my favorite nutritionist and health coach, Gessie Thompson shared the five things you can do to help protect yourself and your family.

  1. Boost your immunity.   Your immune system is the defense that helps to fight off viruses, diseases, and so much more.  Therefore, doing things to make sure your resistance is strong, is so important.

What you can take:

The Breathe supplement from thedetoxnow.com. This supplement helps to boost and repair the respiratory system. Also, consume foods that boost your immune system like elderberry, black mulberries (packed with iron and vitamin C), and camu camu (the highest source of vitamin C), and ginger.

2. Boost your gut health.  Your gut health is directly linked to having a strong immune system.  Prebiotics and probiotics are important in nourishing thegood bacteria found in your gut and put back good bacteria into your gut.

What you can take:

If you have daily bloating and constipation, healing is important first. Detox30 and Detox7 protocols from The Detox Now program.

After healing your gut, getting a good prebiotic and probiotic will help your gut flora to be in balance.

Prebiotic- Manuka honey

Probiotic- Coconut yogurt by Coconut Cult

3. Good hygiene habits.

Wash, wash, wash your hands with soap and water for at least 10 to 20 seconds.

4.  Stock up on supplies the electric way.  In the event that stores are closed or people have to be quarantined, you want to have enough food, toiletries, and water.  We typically think of stocking up on non-perishable items like canned foods but, they are usually laced with BPA (a heavy toxin).

What you can do:

Get frozen organic vegetables and fruits. For a list of the electric, non-inflammatory fruits and veggies, download your free list at thedetoxnow.com.   From the good food list, what you can’t find frozen, you can buy them fresh and wash with a fruit and veggie wash (food -grade hydrogen peroxide and distilled water).  Then, cut them up and place them in BPA-free freezer bags.

Buy grains, lentils, quinoa, pumpkin seeds, brazil nuts, walnuts, etc.

5.  Boost your peace.
Whatever you do, protect your peace.  We want to be proactive, not stressed out and panicked.  With all the constant news updates, social media posts, and everyone’s opinions and speculations, it can be overwhelming and send you into anxiety mode.  Finding ways to be at peace will lower cortisol levels, cut down inflammation, and help keep you healthy.

What you can do:

Pray, meditate, exercise, practice breathing exercises, recite positive affirmations and scriptures, and journal.  Also, being mindful about the information you take in and how often you are allowing it into your mind.

Happy holidays! I hope your Thanksgiving day was filled with lots of good food and great company. We went to hubby’s aunt’s house and had a really good time. Next year, hubby and I will probably host Thanksgiving dinner when we are in our new house *prayers up and fingers crossed*.

I made my famous curry coconut chickpeas and a sweet potato casserole.  If you are following me on IG, @simplisticchic_ , I posted the recipe for the chickpea dish in my InstaStories.

Now on to what has arguably become one of the most anticipated parts of the holiday season–Black Friday shopping. I’m not advocating  going into debt on things you do not need but, I am all about scoring a good deal on something I’ve had my eyes on for a while.

On my personal list are some more Nike’s, workout gear, knee high boots, a new car seat for Benjamin, and some much needed supplements. Realistically, only two or three of these will actually get purchased but, we’ll see.

Today, I’m sharing some great Black Friday deals to help you stay fit that you do not want to miss!
