Self-care Sundays

• By

This mommy, wife, sister, friend, wanna get fit, big dream-chasing life gets crazy sometimes! I’m so super grateful for it and all that is on the way but, sometimes I forget that taking care of me should be on my list as well and it does not make me a bad mother or a neglectful wife.

Things like scheduling a pedicure, getting a facial or taking myself to the chiropractor for this annoying back pain I’ve had for 2 years now. Or asking hubby to watch Benjamin while I go to Home Goods or Target. Carving out 2 hours to go to Barnes and Noble with Becoming by Michelle Obama, so I can read it in peace and finally finish it!

What I’ve also realized is that self-care is also letting go of people and situations that no longer serve you. We’ve all had that “friend” who always has something negative to say and is always the first to “turn up” and bring the drama wherever they go. Or that relationship that you are in that is going nowhere fast but, you stay out of fear of starting over.

Let me just say, that saying no sometimes is so unbelievably therapeutic. As a former people pleaser, this is tough to do but, it feels too great not to! Not in a mean, nasty way of course but, there’s just so many family gatherings, birthday parties, dinners, and baby showers I can go to in a month while still handling my business and taking out some time for me.

I’m still figuring, adjusting, and rearranging my life to squeeze in my definition of self-care because, after 30+ years of living, I FINALLY know that it is more than necessary.

What’s your idea of self-care? How often are you including it into your daily/weekly/ monthly routine?

Check out some of my favorite things to use when I need to just do me!
