If you’ve ever tried to get pregnant, been told you might not ever get pregnant naturally, or struggled with carrying to full-term this post is for you, sis.
I went through my own struggles with getting pregnant and after being diagnosed with Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome in my 20’s, I was told that I probably would not get pregnant without the help of fertility drugs.
I was absolutely crushed!
Along with dietary changes, a whole lot of research, and prayer I was able to get pregnant naturally 3 years ago. I was (and still am) over the moon!
Going through infertility is unbelievably lonely and isolating. As I go through the journey of trying for baby #2, I thought I would share some other tips for women who are praying for a healthy baby (or 2).
- Make a list of the things that you like to do and start doing them. The more you fill your life with the things that make you happy, the more fulfilled you will be! Don’t set a future date for your happiness.
- Set boundaries with those who are stealing your joy. That it isn’t about pointing the finger and attacking the person but recognizing that something is not working for you and choosing to take back your happiness.
- Be aware of turning towards bad habits. The journey to becoming pregnant can get depressing at times. I cried many nights and felt like giving up. There were times where I purposely pigged out on sweets and junk because I just did not care anymore. Don’t let the journey get the best of you! Overeating, excessive drinking, gossiping, etc. will not benefit you in the long run.
- Exercise FAITH. One of the biggest lessons I learned while on this journey (and again now), is that trusting God really does work! I had to let go of my timeline, how it would happen, and do all of the other work in the meantime (changing my diet, lifestyle, and mindset).
What has helped you while trying to conceive?
